The Meet Executive Dashboard allows any user in Google Workspace, who is not Meet data-savvy, to quickly learn about Meet usage and its latest trends

Due to highly confidential restrictions, all media files displayed on this page are prototypes with masked data


Meet 's unprecedented growth required several teams to work together (to help predict capacity needs, help shape product and marketing strategies, and report back to the leadership team), so it's crucial to make sure everyone shares the same understanding of Meet usage performance and latest trends 


RTC (Real-time Communication) team is tracking real-time data points and surfacing them in a powerful platform, although it provides an extensive set of metrics, it is very complex for the average person in Google Workspace who is not a Meet specialist to quickly obtain actionable insights.

Not Everyone is Data-savvy

What's wrong with the current options?

1. Time-consuming and complex to onboard

2. No high-level actionable insights provided

3. Complicated data access approval process

RTC Interface Example


The  Meet Executive Dashboard  is a simplified Meet Dashboard for LT, Analysts, UXR, PMs, GTM, Marketing, and other relevant teams to quickly access data and analyze trends without needing to ramp up in RTC. 

1. Access to a holistic view with different LOD

Displaying a high-level overview of all essential 

Meet data that the team needs to know to take action. Each tab of the interface is tailored toward a specific focus for users quickly accessing the information they're looking for

Metrics appear in plain language that enables insights to be easily pulled out of the dashboard

A lot of highly positive feedback has been received after the first lunch in March 2020. 

Recently, we've been asked to iterate a new version due to business strategy shifted a lot in the past half-year. Meet team wants to have this dashboard under maintains as a long-time-use efficient tool to help with shaping their product and strategy.

Besides, we set up Google Analytics to track effectiveness. We got a great number of unique users and shared insights within Google Workspace. Based on the findings they obtained from the dash, some teams conducted follow-up researches and took some other actions

Since this dashboard was shipped to the whole Google Workspace group, we received several requests for creating similar dashboard products for the other G Suite product,

such as G Suite Essential (Workspace Essential now), Google Chat along with the exposure

 "I'm trying to duplicate a few trends chart on your awesome Meet Executive Dashboard for Google Voice and I want to pick your brain about.... " 

 Building Process 

Define the scope


As an extensive set of metrics have been tracking with Meet, we drew a User Engagement Funnel Chart to summary the most insightful and high-level metrics that our average audience care through the user journey. Another fact became obvious after this step was that the volume of information was much denser than would comfortably support an experience at was accessed via a single page

Structure the information


Even though I've broken down all data points into several tabs with different focuses, it's important to prioritize the questions that need to be answered within a single page

In addition, there are principles that should be taken into consideration when designing data visualization in order to deliver data and information more efficiently.

Selecting the right charts can significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of delivering information

Provide Granularity


  • Instead of setting up globally filters, I designed the best filters for individual chart based on given tasks
